Decided on eckert 3 over eckert 4, as it looks a lot better and gets closer to equal area than Mercator (it's not quite equal area, Africa still being small). With the change I also centered the map on Africa in all views (mobile, fullscreen, normal) and made sure New Zeeland is visible if possible. I included Mercator 4 and the change to that is trivial, or to any other projection going forward, as the refactors and simpler constants allow easy tweaking of zoom behavior.
