Provide an option to enable/disable all cards related to “Suggested edits“
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

This task derived from the task T217373 that’s related to “Suggested edits“.

@Sharvaniharan informed me that there is currently no option to enable/disable all “Explore“ feed cards that are related to “Suggested edits“. This leads to a situation where every new task in “Suggested edits“ will have its own setting, as shown here:

This is not ideal, we’ll need to provide an option to turn all “Explore“ feed cards on/off at once, especially because we’re planning to introduce more features related to “Suggested edit“ in the future.

Suggestion, ideally for V1
Provide a global setting to turn “Suggested edit“ cards on/off, as illustrated on Zeplin. This probably affects more of the technical side of things, no design work needed.

Event Timeline

@schoenbaechler so other main reason for a separate ticket was to group them and further give the user an option to individually turn them on/off as well... so which would mean, we indicate in ui that 'Suggested edits' is a group, and on clicking it, it will expose the various types of cards grouped under it.. like suggested edit add description, suggested edit translate description, suggested edit image... etc.. which can also then be turned on/off individually.. If you feel that is how we should proceed, then this ticket should include design to do that as well?

@Sharvaniharan, I don’t think we need to provide deeper customization options for “Suggested edit“ explore cards anytime soon (also with an eye on the upcoming image captions feature). It’s related to the philosophical discussion we had in standup a few days ago about customization options/settings. My assumption is: Users are either interested in seeing edit suggestions or they are not, that’s why I think we won’t need any design work for it.

All good, thanks @Sharvaniharan! Moving it to QA signoff (@ABorbaWMF 👋).
