Tech Talks Proposal: new CI system candidate demonstration
Closed, DeclinedPublic

Description

The release engineering team is evaluating new software for continuous integration to replace at least part of the existing service (currently Gerrit, Zuul, Gearman, Jenkins, and more). The changes will affect how software gets built, tested, and deployed to production at Wikimedia and the movement.

The process is currently entering phase of the evaluation, which is likely to take months. Once we have something to show, we'd like to present and demonstrate it as a tech talk. if it's something that fits into the series.

@greg @LarsWirzenius Are you able to give me an estimate for when this would be ready for a talk? I am scheduling out for Dec 19 and beyond now, and would be happy to get you on the schedule.

I'm claiming this task to keep it on my radar :-)

@greg and @LarsWirzenius Looping back on this. Any interest in doing this talk in 2020? Say February?

I'm afraid things are running late and in too much of a flux for a tech talk in the foreseeable future.

Okay. I am changing the status to stalled.

This task isn't stalled anymore if I understand correctly.

Adding Tyler and Brennen as subscriber, they're on top of the GitLab work, while I'm not (so unsubscribing).

Great! If this talk does go forward, I propose we move it to (FY 21 Q3 or Q4).
