Closed, ResolvedPublicBUG REPORT

Description

Steps to Reproduce:

  1. Make sure you already apply VisualEditor to edit bjn.wikipedia.org
  2. Open any article and click Babak for visual editing. Article for example: Basa Banjar
  3. Try to add a URL reference in a paragraph by clicking Cite menu. Reference for example: an article from a news site.
  4. Put an URL reference on Otomatis (Automatic) box.
  5. Click Hasilkan (Generate).

Actual Results:
Red text appears below the URL box saying "We couldn't make a citation for you. You can create one manually using the "Manual" tab above."

The URL reference that is supposed to use Template:Cite web doesn't appear.

Expected Results:
The URL reference appears by applying Template:Cite web.

Event Timeline

Thanks for reporting this. Indeed. It works with that URL when using e.g. an article on English Wikipedia.

This is because it has been incorrectly configured; there is no template data in the cite web template. I've temporarily disabled it.

For directions on how to enable it correctly see:

https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Citoid#Ensure_each_template_to_be_used_in_MediaWiki:Citoid-template-type-map.json_has_an_'citoid'_maps_value

It looks like this has been done only for Cite book. This needs to be done for every template listed here: https://bjn.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=MediaWiki:Citoid-template-type-map.json&oldid=61771

i.e. Citation, Cite web, Cite journal, etc.

After the template data has been added correctly to the templates then it can be re-enabled.

@Mvolz Ah, I see. I have added each template with TemplateData in the documentation. Could you please re-enable that so that I can try if it works?

It looked good except I did a null edit on all of the templates to pull through the template data that was transcluded from the doc page (long standing bug) - should work now.

Just checked and it works well. Thank you!
