Voice editing of Wikidata as an Alexa skill
Closed, InvalidPublic

Description

2 out of 5 adults in North America perform daily voice search using Alexa, Siri, Cortana, or Google Assistant. Many of these answers come from Wikipedia or Wikidata, but almost none of those users provide answers back.

This project is to create a proof-of-concept voice editing interface for Wikidata, and by analogy other Wikimedia projects. It will be implemented as an Alexa skill, because that's probably the easiest hackable system. Example interface:

User: "Alexa, ask Wikidata what is the name of George Washington's horse?"

Alexa: "I don't know."

User: "Alexa, tell Wikidata that the name of George Washington's horse is Blueskin."

OK, I jumped in and started this: https://gitlab.com/evanp/alexa-skill-update-wikidata/boards

I'm not sure it's feasible yet. I'm going to try to clear up some risk before diving in.

THis is not something we're currently pursuing or can spend time on in the next year or two. So I'm closing this for now.
