Every week we add operation maintenance events in our ops vendor calendar. Maybe it would be worth looking into the option of having a bot scraping this calendar and adding annotations on specific traffic boards so we can easily figure out if a network issue is related to maintenance work

+1. In general I think it would be a great idea to do a lot more with annotations than we presently do:
- make it easy to add new sources of annotations, with a given set of tags per source
- make a grafana plugin to select which tags you'd like to apply to your current view, allow to save this as part of a dashboard?
Sources I think would be good to have:
- Server Admin Log messages
- Icinga alerts (although you'd probably want a few kinds of filtering here)

Tagging observability-metrics because while logging could handle it, but it may not be the most efficient way to get this information in. We have SimpleJSON and JSON API datasource plugins that might be a better fit.
