Help panel: design/UI standardization feedback
Closed, InvalidPublic

Description

The Help panel has a few minor issues that are irritating/confusing from user perspective:

  • The transition of the button is happening up to 3 times instead of just one, while VE is loaded. Appears buggy.
  • The inputs need dedicated form labels to be accessible. The labels are currently not connected with the inputs below (for attr is missing)
  • The 'settings' icon should better be an 'overflow' ellipsis icon that triggers a menu, not a setting directly. Similar to

  • “Continue” button is positioned on the left, in the next step the progressive action is on the right. That's confusing, the progressive action should always be on the right – https://gerrit.wikimedia.org/r/534256
  • Dialog z-index does not seem appropriate

Some of these seem like they could be done fairly quickly, so I've put it into Upcoming Work to do as a backburner item for an upcoming sprint. Also tagging with Growth Design for @RHo's input.

Verified all items listed by @Volker_E here are all valid and ready for dev. Happy to provide mocks if any points require further clarification.

Change 534256 had a related patch set uploaded (by Catrope; owner: Catrope):
[mediawiki/extensions/GrowthExperiments@master] Help panel: Right-align the continue button

Change 534256 merged by jenkins-bot:

Moving back to Upcoming Work because the newcomer tasks project is a higher priority.

Highly doubt if the points provided 6 years ago are still valid, hence putting to 'invalid'.
