Compare performance against Alexa top 10
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

One thing missing in our measuring of Wikipedia performance is comparing Wikipedia against other sites. We should do that because:

  • Users will expect certain performance compared to other web sites they use
  • We don't have any benchmark today that says if we do good or bad. For the last four years we have been making plans on the mothers of blog post, explaining our performance since last year. But it has never happened. I think a better way to solve that is to compare how we are doing compared to the other Alexa top 10 web sites.

I've started doing this and will do a demo on our team meeting on Tuesday but I cannot wait to share a couple of graphs of what it looks like. I used our enwiki main page and Obama page to compare with all the others start site.

We have a lot of more metrics that I'll share on the meeting and then we can discuss this when we meet on the offsite next week.
