Description

This task will track the racking, setup, and installation of the 5 new kafaka hosts received in T222280.

Rack proposal:

  • kafka-main1001 on row A rack __ __
  • kafka-main1002 on row B rack __ __
  • kafka-main1003 on row C rack __ __
  • kafka-main1004 on row D rack __ __
  • kafka-main1005 on row D rack __ __

kafka-main1001: __

  • - receive in system on procurement task T222280
  • - rack system with proposed racking plan (see above) & update netbox (include all system info plus location)
  • - bios/drac/serial setup/testing
  • - RAID card in HBA mode
  • - mgmt dns entries added for both asset tag and hostname
  • - network port setup
    • end on-site specific steps
  • - production dns entries
  • - operations/puppet update (install_server at minimum, other files if possible)
  • - OS installation (stretch) - update netbox status to staged & IMMEDIATELY RUN/SIGN PUPPET
  • - puppet accept/initial run
  • - handoff for service implementation - service implementation team must change status from staged to active when they change the role and push into service

kafka-main1002: __

  • - receive in system on procurement task T222280

This looks correct, except there isn't a mention of if these need internal or external vlan/ip addresses?

Please comment to state which, and then assign this to @Cmjohnson.

These will need internal vlan/ips. Fwiw kafka-main100[1-5] will be replacing kafka100[123], so those existing hosts could be used as a template.
