Add Hover Support to Who Wrote That
Open, Needs TriagePublic5 Story Points

Description

As a WWT user, I want to see the author name and all text associated with the revision (in the article) when I hover over a word, so that I can easily access information about the author and full revision content directly from the article.

Note: We will create the blue bar that displays the author name in a separate ticket ( T226771: Implement Information Bar for Who Wrote That ).

Requirements:

  • When user hovers over any word, highlight all text in page associated with the author on the page. (Note: If we cannot get the info by contributor rather than revision, we can re-estimate and reconsider this requirement)
  • When user hovers over any word, display username associated with revision in the top area. The name should be displayed in the standard naming format. For example: User:Christian. The name display will not link to any pages.

Visual Examples:

Note: For the visual specifications (such as highlight color), you may refer to the CSS provided in the Zeplin project link. You can click on a particular element of the page to see detailed CSS info.

Might be of interest for this task: English Wikisource has a highlight-on-hover system that uses a set of separate elements to introduce the color, rather than just background-color on the inline spans. This avoids the gaps between lines. It's defined in https://en.wikisource.org/wiki/MediaWiki:PageNumbers.js
