My understanding of the issue is the following.

The source paragraph in Spanish has a reference that uses the Biblia template, which uses parameters by their order (e.g., {{Biblia|Romanos|9-11}} ).

The Portuguese equivalent template uses named parameters instead for the different elements (book, chapters, etc.). For example: {{Citar Bíblia |livro = Romanos|capítulo = 9-11}}. But it also supports providing skipping the parameter names as long as the info is provided in the right parameter order.

Content translation has no clue about the equivalence between the parameters of these two templates so parameters are just kept as numbered parameters in order. This causes two problems:

  • A mismatch with the 3rd parameter. Spanish template has "alternative text" as 3rd parameter and Portuguese expects the verse number. So the template rendering shows that the number given is incorrect.
  • The template editing form shows parameters duplicated for the target template. It includes the numbered parameters copied from the source, and the named parameters from the template.

Given all the above, it seems a case where lack of metadata and differences in the template structure across languages is causing problems. I'm not sure we can do much about it (T206310, may help a bit), but maybe @santhosh , @Petar.petkovic or @Nikerabbit may have a different impression.

Unless anyone indicates a general aspect that can be improved (other than adding metadata to this specific template), I'm declining this one.
