Transfer ownership of mediawiki-security mailman list to Security Team
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

Hey Ops/SRE-

We noticed this old, seemingly-defunct mailing list: https://lists.wikimedia.org/mailman/listinfo/mediawiki-security owned by @csteipp, who hasn't been active in Wikimedia security for a while now. Could we transfer ownership of this list to the Security-Team? Specifically @JBennett and/or @Reedy and myself? We may end up shutting down the list, but I think we'd like to evaluate the archives, subs list, etc. first. Thanks.

@Reedy @JBennett I've set you up as list administrators. You now need to change the list admin password, I'm happy to help if you can't reset it yourself (I don't think you can). Just ping me on IRC so we can change the password in sync.

Hellooo World?

The list had 23 emails during its entire existence; excluding yours now, the last one was in 2016.

@Dzahn are there instructions somewhere for archiving a list?

@chasemp All you have to run is "rmlist <listname>" on fermium. By default that will keep the archives but close the list otherwise.

At this time the intention is to archive this list. If someone wants to take ownership in the future or resurrect another list with similar scope that seems like a fine thing. I'll be archiving it this week unless someone wants to ownership and maintainers status.

root@fermium:~# rmlist mediawiki-security
