Error saving translation: You have been blocked from editing.

Description

Hello, I wanted to translate IP Editing: Privacy Enhancement and Abuse Mitigation on Meta. So I arrive on this page and start to translate. But when I click on the "Save" button, the translation is never validated (it remains yellow).

If I click again on the message I just translated (and that is not yet validated), I see this error message

Error saving translation: You have been blocked from editing.

I seems that the problem comes from the fact I am logged in and in addition I use a VPN that is globally blocked (open proxy). However I am part of the Global IP block exemptions group, so I expected I am not blocked to add translation on Meta.

If I do not use the VPN (still logged in), my translations are saved without any issue.

That page uses action=edit API module. Translate itself does not check for such permissions. Can you edit the page directly by clicking the title dropdown and choosing Show in wikieditor?

Remember that the global-ipblock-exempt group gives you globalblock-exempt and torunblocked but not ipblock-exempt, so you may still be blocked locally on Meta. Were your recent edits made from the same IP addess?

(If the error message does not include the block number or other information to contact the blocking admin or other appropriate users on the right wiki about it, that would be a separate bug.)

Indeed, that's the explanation. If I try to edit the main page here, I get a message that says that my IP has been blocked.

No, my recent edits have been done withtout using the VPN. Yet, as you wrote, the error message I got when I tried to translate is not as clear as the one I get I try to edit the main page (see the link in the first part of my reply).
So, are you aware of an already existing bug report about this topic (the unclear message) or should I open a new one?

For your information, here is what I see, when I try to edit the main page

And here, what I see, when I try to translate a new message within the Translate extension.

This is the only message I have seen within the Translate extension.
