When you try to log in with username that no longer exist, because the user was renamed, it will throw the usual "Incorrect username or password" error. Now that it's impossible to create an username belonging previously to someone else, unless you are a sysop, it's a good idea to remind renamed users they were renamed, to avoid surprises.
