Responsive Community portal project page on sk wiki
Closed, InvalidPublic

Description

Hi,
I would like to ask if we could make the "Community portal" project page on Slovak Wikipedia responsive (not only for mobile version but also when you resize your browser window).

What is OK on mobile now:

  • First section: "Vitaj na Portáli komunity"
  • Second section: Navigation menu, icons are not shown

What is not OK on mobile now:
Four other sections (two next to each other) are divided into two equal halves of the screen with the code. That also keeps the division on the smaller displays which results in the sentences being hard to read, it may (depends on the current content) even make some content to be visible only after moving the screen to the right. For example, it happens currently with the two sections on the bottom.

The request:
Keep the appearance on the desktop version as it is now but make the four sections go under each other (so it is going to be only one section on the full width) when the display gets smaller (mostly mobile version).

Names of the sections:

  1. Užitočné stránky
  2. Čo sa deje
  3. Aktuality
  4. Tip mesiaca

Thanks a lot for the help!

Hi @Luky001, thanks for taking the time to report this and welcome to Wikimedia Phabricator!

On-wiki content (like user scripts, gadgets, templates, custom CSS, custom front pages) are local features and managed independently on each wiki.
Phabricator is used for MediaWiki, MediaWiki extensions, or server configuration, or by developers and teams to organize what they plan to work on.

Changes to the content of the Community portal project page on sk wiki are a topic to discuss and fix on sk wiki, so I'm closing this task here as invalid.

If you yourself want to work on making that portal project page responsive, I'd propose that you could for example take a look at the CSS code of https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Template:Main_page (which I'd call "responsive" if I understand the term correctly) to see one way to achieve this.

@Luky001: I have tried to write down some basics about wiki main pages for smaller screens in https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/User:AKlapper_(WMF)/Sandbox/T241646 (not the final location) - I hope that could help a bit? Your feedback is welcome in T241646! :)
