WWT: Infobar covers up article coordinates
Open, Needs TriagePublicBUG REPORT

Description

What is the problem?

Some articles have coordinates associated with them, which appear at the very top right of the article.

When turning on WWT, the Infobar covers them up.

Steps to reproduce problem
  1. Go to https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/England
  2. Note the Koordinaten: 52° 29′ N, 1° 34′ W in the top right
  3. Click "Who Wrote That?"

Expected behavior: Coordinates still appear
Observed behavior: Coordinates covered up by Infobar

Environment

Browser: Firefox 60, Chromium 73

Event Timeline

Note: We don't get WikiWho data for the coordinates (since it comes from inside a template), and this does not impact all wikis. For example, the coordinates are located lower in the page, so they display, on English Wikipedia.

This is low priority, so I'm removing it from the 'To Be Estimated' column. We can revisit it at a later date, if we receive feedback on this particular issue from users.

ifried renamed this task from Infobar covers up article coordinates to WWT: Infobar covers up article coordinates.Dec 10 2019, 9:48 PM

I think the recent z-index increment from T234709 might have also solved this.

I think the recent z-index increment from T234709 might have also solved this.

It does not appear to have done. T234709 increased the z-index of the toolbar.

Oh! Yes, I see. I think I should brush up on my reading skills. ;-)

Not sure what the answer is for this then. It'd look odd having the coords on top of the WWT bar.

In my opinion it's a design flaw with dewiki's coordinates. They appear outside the #bodyContent area which is where gadgets, scripts, extensions etc. should safely assume article content doesn't exist. Either way, it's certainly not a pressing issue so I'm doing to untag Community-Tech.
