AutoWikiBrowser turns <em> tags into normal italics despite the Manual of Style
Closed, DuplicatePublic

Description

I noticed that an edit to a page I had placed <em> tags on turned those tags into normal italics here: https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Voctronica&curid=61774318&diff=915617646&oldid=915592734, even though the manual of style at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Manual_of_Style/Text_formatting#Emphasis states that "The most accessible way to indicate emphasis is with the HTML <em>...</em> element or by enclosing the emphasized text within an {{em|...}} template." I don't know whether this is a bug or merely an ill-used task, but I was wondering if anything could be done about it in AWB.

This is T185840 and I will be closing accordingly.

As a work around today, use the em template instead.
