@RHo @MMiller_WMF we are not showing the welcome survey with the popup method in any of our experiment groups, and AFAIK we have no plans to do that in the future. Given that, I'd like to propose that we remove the relevant code from the extension so that it's easier to maintain. If we decide we want to bring it back, we can always go back in the repository history and restore the code.
