Description

Steps to reproduce:

Open the 2017WTE and type something.
Press ctrl-option-p to Preview page.
Nothing seems to happen.
Save the page.
Find � wherever your cursor was.
Fix page.

Expected results:

Open the 2017WTE and type something.
Press ctrl-option-p to Preview page.
See the preview.

Seen in Safari Version 12.1.2 (14607.3.9) on macOS Mojave 10.14.6 (18G95). I have not tried to reproduce this, and I was unable to find the previous bug about the same problem.

I can't reproduce this is Safari 11 or 13. Is this still happening for you @Whatamidoing-WMF or was it just a Safari 12 issue?

Yes. I accidentally reproduced this with the shortcut for opening the "Publish changes" dialog box. Open a page on enwiki, press Command–Option–Shift–S three times (twice, if you don't have the "remind me to add an edit summary" pref setting), and then see what you get.
