@AMuigai @cmadeo Could you coordinate to provide the app's name, subtitle, description and icons?

cmadeo updated the task description. (Show Details)Oct 21 2019, 3:05 PM

@SBisson and @AMuigai I've uploaded two different versions of the icon (square and round) in the two sizes. If we have a choice, I'd suggest using the square icon as it more closely matches other icons we have, but just in case both are needed I've added the round as well.

For title and subtitle, on iOS we use:
Title
Wikipedia

Subtitle
The free encyclopedia

@cmadeo The icons are nice but I think they are slightly too big. I don't really understand why they ask for 56px but then say they actually be 46px or 44px. See https://developer.kaiostech.com/design-guide/launcher-icon Also they don't specify the what the actual size of the 112px should be.

@SBisson here are some resized icons, I just took a guess with the 112px versions

44px

90px

@cmadeo it looks better but it's not quite there yet. I think the icon has to be 56px but with the actual graphic 46px (for the square version) or 44px (for the circle version).

@AMuigai can you think of a subtitle and description you would like me to use? It is not clear what the description is used for but it is mandatory in the manifest.

From the documentation:

subtitle

Your app’s subtitle appears below your app name throughout the KaiStore. A subtitle is a short and striking or memorable message, and is intended to summarize your app in a concise phrase. A compelling subtitle can encourage product page views and installs. The maximum length of a subtitle is 40 characters.

Description

A human-readable description for the app. It should be a short and strong message.

@SBisson Would you mind trying the sizes available on this Zeplin board? https://zpl.io/aBdWqgp

Thanks. They look good!

Woo! Sorry that took so many tries!

@SBisson Is there a character limit for the description section? Here's what I recommend based on what I've seen on the other apps.

Title
Wikipedia

Subtitle

Option 2

@SBisson Is there a character limit for the description section?

Not that I know of.

I'm OK with both. Someone needs to make a decision ;)

@cmadeo On the KaiOS store, every app has a placeholder image in the background, could you please select one for us? Sharing some screenshots from the store to give you an idea of what that looks like.

Moving back to dev to handle the store background image. Will need to do some research on this as I've found zero documentation.

Found some good info about the image in the store, also called marketing banner: https://developer.kaiostech.com/design-guide/marketing-banner

I have moved the marketing banner to T236950: Configure app marketing banner
It will have to be done before we submit to the store but it's not urgent.

@SBisson is there a way to link a commit/branch to a phab task?
For example on Language team, every time they create a patch, there's a commit
https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T231942#5623074.

On Jira, there was a way to link the commit with the ticket by putting the ticket id on the commit message, for example: "T234616-add new logo".

From a quick google search I found 2 links with some information related to that:
https://docs.bitnami.com/bch/apps/phabricator/configuration/configure-external-repo/
https://blog.dcycle.com/blog/80/setting-phabricator-track-git-repo/

@SBisson is there a way to link a commit/branch to a phab task?

It's been talked about for a while but I am not aware of a working solution yet. See Github-notif-bot

When we have more engineers, I will create pull requests, link them in the tasks, and put the tasks in the "code review" column to make changes easier to track.
