As mentioned at T223414#5580972 and the following discussion, monthly heartbeat pings were introduced in rMWfbba5dae54e0396d859a7e32872d60e9909213a9. If we use a window of one month to calculate the report data filtering out duplicate pings from the same key, the reports will be more accurate since they will not include installations that are no longer operating. The previous reports should be retained for MediaWiki versions prior to the introduction of the heartbeat patch.

@fdans: good first task tasks are self-contained, non-controversial issues with a clear approach and should be well-described with pointers to help a completely new contributor. I assume this is about code in the EventLogging extension but where would I have to add (or "update"?) something? Please feel very welcome to add details what exactly has to happen where and how for a new contributor and then add back the good first task project tag. Thanks a lot for in advance!
