Better track Kiwix & openZIM tickets
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Kiwix software development and operations relies in many different ways to solutions provided by Wikimedia. Therefore we regularly open/comment/update tickets for various Wikimedia teams.

Unfortunately I miss a solution to clearly present these tickets in a way it is clear for anybody:

  • What are the tickets related to Kiwix activity
  • What are the priority things from Kiwix perspective

This view is IMO needed for ourself but also for partners at WM/WMF who care about what we do and need to identify quickly where are needs.

Does it make sense to have a Kiwix project tag and a workboard where you (or colleagues) can keep track of relevant tickets by putting them in various columns?

I have forgotten to write that, after discussing this topic with @Aklapper, it looks like a solution might be:

  • A dedicated tag "Kiwix & openZIM"
  • A dedicated workboard where we would be able to put the tickets we would like to see fixed/implemented in priority.

@ArielGlenn Looks like you came to the same conclusion :)

If that is also the sense of your colleagues, I think you can just request the project tag like anyone else... and start using it once it's live!

I'd propose creating a tag called #affects-Kiwix-and-openZIM (similar to vs, to (hopefully) make clear that this is NOT meant to report issues with Kiwix itself (that is ), and using its Phab project workboard columns to express priorities of the Kiwix and openZIM folks. Makes sense?

@Aklapper Looks good to me. Thx.

Let me know when you've got a workboard set up so I can start keeping an eye on it. Because your work is related kinda-sorta to dumps, it's nice to have a central spot to see what's blocking you etc.
