Request: temporary lift of IP cap in cawiki on 2019-12-02
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

Hello, we (Amical Wikimedia) will be giving a workshop to communication undergraduate students on how to edit Wikipedia, next 2nd December. We'd like to request a temporary lift of the IP cap so as the attendees could create user accounts on their own.

IP: I've been given two IP ranges, 90.161.45.24/30 and 84.88.226.0/24
Date & time: 2nd December, 08:00-11:00 GMT+1
Wiki: ca.wiki
Accounts that might be created: ~20, maybe more

Thank you very much & sorry for the inconvenience that such a short notice may cause!

Esther

Umm, I was confused. 2019-12-02 is Monday. But we needs this deployed... @Urbanecm I need help.

I'll do my best to deploy this on Monday before the actual event. However, I can't guarantee that will happen. Please count with the option a deployment might not happen for any reason, and in the future, request all throttle exception at least two weeks in advance. Requests placed at shorter notice may be declined.

Thanks everyone for the efforts made to make this happen. I was completely aware of the short notice and usually try to make the requests with enough time to be attended but this time I couldn't get the IP number earlier. However, if the petition can't be deployed I'm an account creator myself so we have some sort of failsafe, even though I'd prefer that the participants have the full experience of creating an account by thelselves.

Thanks for your understanding!
