VI/MC requiring support for authorizations on refunds 4/2020
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

FR Tech, please note this new requirement coming from VI and MC in April 2020 where merchants will have to support authorizations on refunds. I am presently tracking down specs for this change so we can scope the work, but wanted to get this on your radar given the specified date for compliance is April 2020.

Visa and Mastercard changes processing Refunds:
 Authorization required on Refunds (Visa and Mastercard)
Visa and Mastercard will require, from April 2020 onwards, all Refund Transactions to be authorized, effectively applying the current Fee for Purchases on Refunds as well.

Event Timeline

@EMartin @Ppena This will only apply to us if we need to do batch refunds. This doesn't happen that often for us but it will make batch refunds more complicated and expensive. We'll just need to be aware of that.

According to Ingenico the auth on refund will not impact us (closing task).

Hi Evelyn,
This won’t impact you. This change is for us, it means we need to take your refund request, and rather than batching it out overnight via settlement files, to pass that request along in real-time. For you, you already get a real-time response if a refund is approved or not, and that won’t change.

EMartin claimed this task.
