As mentioned in T119352, relying on pageviews as THE readership metric is antiquated and does not fully reflect how our users interact with our products (sites, Wikipedia apps).
Use cases:
- Inform strategic planning by having a baseline understanding of how long users interact with our products for
- Analyze impact of new features & experiences in moving the average (or percentile) session lengths
To that end, the MVP version of this dataset should let us see & track:
- Average, median, and 99th percentile session lengths for each platform (web, iOS, Android)
As a bonus, it might be good to have the metrics broken down by the following dimensions for comparing markets/populations:
- By wiki
- By country
- By app version (use case: we release an update and want to compare without doing an A/B test)
