Done! I edited the recurring contribution and the first installment on this contact's latest recurring donation to backdate both by a month: civicrm/contact/view?reset=1&cid=2241615
I was able to edit both via the UI. Then the overnight charge job picked it up and made a new charge successfully. My donor email did get a terse email notification from CiviCRM about the contribution_recur edit, though. I'll look for how to suppress those.
