When a mentor is not active and don't answer mentees' questions, they are removed from the list of mentors.
We need to reassign mentees after that.

What could be the message for the mentees when they are redirected to the new mentors? Something like: Your mentor [old_mentor_name] is not available now. We invite you to ask your questions to your new mentor [new_mentor_name].
Should we message them? It could it be a source of confusion? Maybe a notification would be better instead?
That would make vandalism of that page very disruptive. We'd probably need a safer mechanism for mentors to list themselves, first.
Wait, couldn't you remove your self from the list because you don't want any NEW mentees - but you are fine with the ones you have?
There is a way to do what you describe: have a separate list of mentors that is not used to pick manes to assign to mentor, but that allow people listed there to be mentors.
