This is an idea that might help us engage many more newcomers in the experience that the Growth team is building.
In T245790: Newcomer tasks: post-edit dialog, we built a post-edit dialog that appears after a user saves a suggested edit, which encourages them to do another edit or visit their homepage (and can also be used as a platform to encourage other behaviors in the future). But only a small percent of newcomers actually save a suggested edit (something like 1% as of Feb 2020).
On the other hand, something like 20% - 40% of newcomers save some kind of edit. These could be edits to articles of their own choosing or to user or talk pages. Perhaps the post-edit dialog could be introduced for those non-suggested edits to encourage them to do further edits or to visit their homepage to see their impact.
Proposed design
Re-use the post-edit dialog, with only change the copy to reflect that the user has made a non-SE edit:
Notes:
- The suggested edit should be Easy.
- The suggested edit would ideally the same topic as the article they just edited
- Ensure there is no conflict with other products such as the CX tool which has the same suggestion point (see T287025).
