Looking at a problematic patch https://gerrit.wikimedia.org/r/c/labs/tools/watch-translations/+/571286, I cannot find the patch number 571286 nor the commit id 8bc7cce in our export logs at all. In fact the logs for 10th and 13th say that the there would be no changes to wikimedia-tools group. Both days crosswatch has failed, which belongs to the same group. It seems that something somewhere is preventing rest of output appearing in the logs if one group in there fails. The commits being created is an example of that.

Timestamps of Feb 10, 2020, 16:03:34 UTC+02:00 (of https://gerrit.wikimedia.org/r/#/c/wikimedia/portals/+/571284) and Feb 10, 2020, 16:04:00 UTC+02:00 of the previously mentioned commit indicate that commit did actually run. So I guess we have three problems:

• fix crosswatch so that it doesn't fail
• figure out why something is missing from the logs
• check if it makes sense to run the auto-merge even if some commits fail

Based on my investigation this is an issue on our side only, hence updating tags.
