Add link saying that "this page is made with StructuredDiscussions/Flow"
Closed, DeclinedPublicFeature

Description

Looking around the edges of e.g., https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension_talk:MobileFrontend
users note it is in a different format than a vanilla wiki's Talk pages.

OK, but there is no "branding" at say, the bottom, indicating what is making it different.

I am betting it is DiscussionTools. If so, wouldn't it be best to have some tiny link somewhere, so people could know where to learn more / give feedback?

Page display is generally based on the page's content model, including this case; the content model can be found at action=info - https://www.mediawiki.org/w/index.php?title=Extension_talk:MobileFrontend&action=info

DannyS712 changed the subtype of this task from "Bug Report" to "Feature Request".Apr 4 2020, 1:50 AM

All I know is some pages' Talk pages have the same format as the pages
themselves, e.g.,

https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Manual_talk:ImportDump.php
https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Manual:ImportDump.php

https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Help_talk:Export
https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Help:Export

And some pages' Talk pages have a very different format than the format
of the pages themselves, e.g.,

https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Talk:Exporting_all_the_files_of_a_wiki
https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Exporting_all_the_files_of_a_wiki

https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Skin_talk:Minerva_Neue
https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Skin:Minerva_Neue

I suspect this difference is due to DiscussionTools, but I don't
remember who once told me.

Therefore, whatever is making this difference in format, should, at the
bottom of that Talk page, say "This format is courtesy of .....Tools,
with a hyperlink to more information about ....Tools.

Wait, looking at https://www.mediawiki.org/w/index.php?title=Extension_talk:MobileFrontend&action=info I am no longer sure any of this has to do with DiscussionTools.

It is related to DiscussionTools - the content model is "flow-board" and "flow" is DiscussionTools

Ammarpad subscribed.

And DiscussionTools does not create pages/nor format them in any unusual way AFAIK, it only provides Reply links beside signature.

Ammarpad renamed this task from Add link saying that "this page is made with DiscussionTools" to Add link saying that "this page is made with StructuredDiscussions/Flow".Apr 4 2020, 8:54 AM

OK, but there is no "branding" at say, the bottom, indicating what is making it different.

Such technical details are irrelevant for nearly all users.

I am betting it is DiscussionTools.

No, it is Flow also known as StructuredDiscussions. If you look at DiscussionTools you find a link to https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension:DiscussionTools which shows a screenshot (which looks different).

so people could know where to learn more / give feedback?

We don't want a "provide feedback" button for every single UI element or concept, especially without a concept why you'd always want to provide "feedback".

Fine. OK I'll just have to refer to all this stuff via what it looks like, etc.
