Lingua Libre files with Bengali title are not displayed
Closed, DuplicatePublic

Description

Most (close to 100%) of the files in this category (link below) was first uploaded with English letters/script (example: Agunpakhi). After community discussion on Wikidata (followed by on Wikimedia Commons), the files were renamed to Bengali script (Example (in Bengali) আগুনপাখি

The attached file captures a screenshot of a category page.

Before I thought to start the second round of uploading, I found all the files which have Bengali titles, are not displayed at all in both a) file page (https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:LL-Q9610_(ben)-Titodutta-%E0%A6%86%E0%A6%9C%E0%A6%95%E0%A6%BE%E0%A6%B2.wav) and b) Category page (https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Category:Lingua_Libre_pronunciation_by_Titodutta)

This is problematic. Kindly help to resolve.

Titodutta created this task.

@Titodutta Wasn't this just a cahce-related issue? The category you pointed out seems to be correctly filled.

Namaskara,
I still see no change, none of the audio file with Bengali title is displayed on the file page.
I archived a copy of the page http://archive.is/T5fEL, there also I can not see any file.
Regards.

@Titodutta Oh, got it! The files are correctly listed in the category, but after the rename the little audio player isn't there anymore. This is a known bug of the Transcoder on Commons for years now (see T156914).

A work-around is to purge each file individually to force the transcoder to do it's job.

--I tried ?action=purge on a couple of files. That purge didn't work. How do you suggest me to purge 1,300 files? Regards.

It must be a purge with the "forcelinkupdate" flag set if I remember correctly, which is only possible through the API I think. It's a trivial task for a bot to do, you can ask on this page on Commons.

Eatcha has done the work https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Commons:Bots/Work_requests#1300_file_pages_purge_request
But I don't see change still even after the suggested change. What do you suggest? Regards.

After a bit of time the purge has been effective ;)

Which browser are you using? I tried viewing the page on Firefox, Edge, and Brave on Windows (both logged in and logged out) and it seems like the players are not even showing for the entirely Latin-based file names in that category.

Everything is alright for me, both on the category and on the file itself (Firefox 74 on manjaro).

Oh, got the difference. I have enabled the "new video player" in my preferences (in the "beta features" tab), when I disable it everything got blank again. The issue is definitely related to the move operation, but I can't help futher, I don't know much the TimedMediaHandler extension...
