Scale: remove EventLogging for hovers on homepage
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

The "hover-in" and "hover-out" events on the desktop version of the newcomer homepage may create performance issues (T226558) if we bring them to big wikis. Given that we have never prioritized analyzing them (T230073), we should stop logging them. But we should make it possible to turn them on again if we want them at some point, perhaps during a variant test.

Moving to PM review just for information only - no issues are found.
Checked in betalabs and testwiki wmf.28 - hover-in and hover-out are not present anymore. @Catrope updated https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Schema:HomepageModule (hover in/out removed).

@Etonkovidova -- in your testing, do the other events seem unaffected? If so, then thank you, and please go ahead resolve the task.

I just checked in the data lake, and the hover-in and hover-out events did indeed stop in April.
