Description

Let's say we are reading
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Nearby#/coord/24.18169,120.86617
Sure, there are a few articles shown.

Well if in "Languages" in the left side panel, we could find "中文",
then with one click we could see the many more articles on the exact same corrdinates'
https://zh.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Nearby#/coord/24.18169,120.86617 !!

No need to check if there are really any results for whatever language.
Just please list all 267(?) language links in the left panel,
perhaps in two tiers, 30 major ones, then another click to see the rest.

It's an interesting idea, but requires knowledge of the language the user is proficient in which to my knowledge is not easily available. It would also require API requests to all those language sites (at worst case that's 267 languages to query) so there are some challenges with doing that at Wikimedia scale.

I'd recommend exploring this in a gadget as we're unlikely to get to it.

Well how about also sensing "the main language(s) for the coordinates."
Just like when you connect to Google from Japan, Google somehow guesses you might want their Japanese welcome screen.
So in this case, even though we are reading en.wikipedia.org, based on the coordinates, the system could say to itself, "Well I bet there are some zh-tw articles nearby too. Let's put some tally of them in the side panel the user could click on."

Sure, but this requires a lot of Google-level-infrastructure we don't have. :)

Agree this would be cool though. Just not seeing this on our roadmap any time soon.

Hmmm, Google would say,

Are you sure you just want to see the English links? There are [click here] five times as many results for zh-tw.
Found no English links. Removing language restriction and showing all results.
Etc.

wikidata.org is the closest we have to a language agnostic nearby: https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Special:Nearby

The new version of Nearby will improve the wikidata experience to show descriptions and titles.
