Upload Wizard does not allow to publish upload: After clicking "Publish files", nothing happens
Open, MediumPublic

Description

Hi, just reporting that today it is the 4th time I have finished the stage of describing about 40 of my photos on Upload Wizard and upon clicking Publish files, nothing happened, so I had to reload and describe everything again, upon which the same thing happened several times... Later, I managed to upload by 10 files a time, but then the same thing happened again with about ten of them, too. You can imagine how much time I have lost doing it over and over again :-(
Is there a way to prevent it happening?
It had only happened once before, and several uploads in between went ok. My internet connection is fine, and I use Chrome.

Hi @Cheva. Can you please run the upload wizard with the debug option enabled? Add ?debug=true as a URL parameter at the end of the web address and then reload the page. After that, does anything appear in your browser's console when loading the page? For more information please see the Google Chrome help.

Hi, @Aklapper, please excuse my ignorance but I am just a humble user and I am not sure what you mean.

  • Run = just open or try and upload more files?
  • Adding the ?debug=true means "copying it at the end of the Upl.Wizard url" (and reaload)?

No problem (and sorry!). Yes, "run" means when you perform the next upload.
For "debug=true", see https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Help:Locating_broken_scripts

@Aklapper Thanks, I hope I got it ok :-) Just to make sure: the "?debug=true" was used (i.e. reloaded) before selecting the photos and was kept there until the upload was finished:

I didn't notice any unusual Chrome behaviour, just the reload took slightly longer than expected. The upload itself (3 files) went perfectly fine.

Hi @Aklapper, the same thing has just happened again, with just 10 photos on Chrome. Could you help, please?

@Cheva: Yes, https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Special:UploadWizard?debug=true would be correct, plus then checking the network and the console tabs of your web browser for any errors (not: warnings).

Marking as medium as it may affect more than one person if this isn't just a Heisenbug; would love more details from @Cheva whenever we can get them. Unlikely this will get much attention soon, but if you're seeing this as well, please speak up!
