Syntax error triggers repetitive dead link tagging

Description

Over at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Liquid-crystal_display, a reference is missing its final curly quote. This is somehow triggering poor behaviour by the bot. The latest diff is https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Liquid-crystal_display&curid=17932&diff=955641184&oldid=955601140

The reference currently reads

It might not fix it for this particular garbage input, but I have implemented something that should prevent it from happening in the future. In v2.0.3
