During the Wikipedia & COVID-19 symposium yesterday, I noticed that many people seemed to be interested in the dynamics of participation.
The goal of this task was (is?) to improve ways to visualize metrics for WikiProjects participants.
For example, third-party tools that take a list of participants and generates a few visualizations based on data available in wiki, for example:
- Visualizing when people joined the project
- An word cloud of the common words on the profiles of project users
- Languages the users speak (ex: by Babel tags)
and so on.
I do not know if similar tools exist so far.
I documented progress on https://github.com/lubianat/wikidata_covid19/tree/master/sandbox/wikiproject_metrics, but is only a rough draft so far.
