Analytics for project participants
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

During the Wikipedia & COVID-19 symposium yesterday, I noticed that many people seemed to be interested in the dynamics of participation.

The goal of this task was (is?) to improve ways to visualize metrics for WikiProjects participants.

For example, third-party tools that take a list of participants and generates a few visualizations based on data available in wiki, for example:

  • Visualizing when people joined the project
  • An word cloud of the common words on the profiles of project users
  • Languages the users speak (ex: by Babel tags)

and so on.

I do not know if similar tools exist so far.

I documented progress on https://github.com/lubianat/wikidata_covid19/tree/master/sandbox/wikiproject_metrics, but is only a rough draft so far.

This is the result for the participant timeline, for example:

Hi, the Wikimedia Hackathon 2020 took place two months ago. Can you please provide an update on this task? If this task was worked on and finished, then please change the task status to resolved. If this task is still valid and should stay open, then please associate an active project tag to this task so this task can be found on an active project workboard. Thanks!

Hi, thanks for the reminder.
