Currently wikiba.se is not managed by wikimedia foundation, we don't have control over the hosting environment or management of the DNS. wikibase.org is a Wikimedia foundation domain as such we are unable, as a matter of policy, to create a CNAME or forward for this domain to wikiba.se.

An effort was previously made to migrate wikiba.se into the wikimedia foundation production environment, however this didn't happen due to policy issues. To resolve this we could either revisit the issues in the previous task, although i suspect the situation remains the same, or WMDE could ask Wikimedia Foundation to transfer the ownership of the wikibase.org domain to WMDE. This would need approval from legal however i think it is a possible way forward if there is appetite.

The swap of Traffic for Traffic-Icebox in this ticket's set of tags was based on a bulk action for all such tickets that haven't been updated in 6 months or more. This does not imply any human judgement about the validity or importance of the task, and is simply the first step in a larger task cleanup effort.
