Enter visual editing mode.
Touch the text with single finger to set the cursor; cursor is displayed, and keyboard pops up at bottom and toolbar at top.
Using a single finger, scroll the text up or down. At certain positions the display will start to flash, as though it's constantly redrawing the screen. The scrollbar flashes, sometimes a thin horizontal line is visible flashing in the middle of the text and sometimes, if the toolbar is visible it will flash as well.
If this flashing is happening, and you put your finger on the cursor because you want to "grab" it and try to move it to another place, the text frame will shift swiftly to another spot, often leaving behind a thin, black, no longer flashing cursor in the spot where the cursor was, but there is no longer an active cursor.
