Rename (and lock) Translation Notification Bot@Translation Notification Bot
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Special:CentralAuth/Translation_Notification_Bot@Translation_Notification_Bot looks like an account created in the early days of TranslationNotifications whose name is identical to https://gerrit.wikimedia.org/r/#/c/operations/mediawiki-config/+/603167/2/wmf-config/CommonSettings.php

Given that this account is broken and uses an invalid @ character in its name, I'd like to ask the maintainers if it is okay to rename the account to something like Translation Notification Bot (broken) and globally lock it afterwards.

Note that this is NOT https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Special:CentralAuth?target=Translation+Notification+Bot, a different account (which by the way is now no longer used).

I have locally renamed it to Translation Notification Bot (T255246), since this was not a global account. @Urbanecm Would it be possible to forcibly convert that account into a global one via one of the several CentralAuth maintenance scripts (seems like migrateAccount.php with --auto can create global accounts where they do not exist)? I don't think we should leave this one in an odd non-global state. See CA. Alternatively, we may wish to reset its password and use the UI to create it, and lock it afterwards? Thanks.

Done and locked (although technically that doesn't change much; there's no way how to log in into an account with no global counterpart at all). Unless I missed something, we can call this resolved now, @MarcoAurelio?

Yes, everything's handled now. Thanks.
