The "From Wikipedia…" tagline is actually only present on English Wikipedia. I haven't seen it on Wikipedia in any other language. It is a bit of an oddity.

According to @alexhollender many communities have decided to hide that element, but it's still there on many larger sized wikis (Italian, Korean, Chinese, Russian, Vietnamese)

Oh, interesting. I guess I'm not familiar with any of those…

Note that the tagline is hidden by default, so if it's visible, then the project has explicitly decided to show it. We'd probably want to talk to each community about it, and we'd have to change it on each wiki separately.

Now that I think of it, is the confusion even present in languages other than English? I can't speak for any of the languages you mentioned, but in Polish, you'd use a different preposition in the expressions "message from Wikipedia" ("wiadomość od Wikipedii") and "content from Wikipedia" ("zawartość z Wikipedii"), so "from Wikipedia" ("z Wikipedii") is unambiguous.

It is not visible on nl.wp (Dutch Wikipedia)

alexhollender renamed this task from "From Wikipedia" page metadata/subtitle confuses junior contributors to "From Wikipedia" page metadata/subtitle confuses junior contributors on Talk pages.Jun 26 2020, 6:24 PM

I wonder if there's a more helpful message we could place there, one that is specific to talk pages. For example on History pages that space is used to link to page logs. What could be helpful for Talk pages? Idea to prompt conversation shown below.

I would just remove the tagline. It is useful for content namespaces ($wgContentNamespaces), but not discussions.
