Convert ukwikisource ns:250 and ns:251 to have subpages
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

Typically the Page/Page talk namespaces for the Wikisources has been hierarchical, so subpages have existed for pages in these two namespaces. It seems to be an oversight to have not created that configuration when the ukWS wiki was created.

I am asking for the the 250 and 251 namespaces to be converted to be subpages, and the ancilliary modifying maintenance scripts to be run to align the pages.

supporting information

see 104 and 105 for enWS
https://en.wikisource.org/w/api.php?action=query&meta=siteinfo&siprop=namespaces%7Cnamespacealiases

the corresponding namespaces at ukWS 250 and 251 were created differently
https://uk.wikisource.org/w/api.php?action=query&meta=siteinfo&siprop=namespaces|namespacealiases

this makes maintenance of moves burdensome as moving subpages collectively is way easier for an administrator.

Event Timeline

The addition of All-and-every-Wikisource was purposeful and if you had waited a minute or two while I completed the complementary paperwork, and we can get the ping in place, get some people aware, and then we can remove.

There will most likely be other Wikisources that have a similar configuration deficit, and we also need to check whether there is an installation notes deficit to ensure that future creations are created with Page:/Page talk with subpages.

Projects shouldn't be added as subscribers - if All-and-every-Wikisource should be added it should be as a tag.

I've created T256410, which is probably a better solution - it would change this at all wikis.

While I would agree that it is a better solution, I would think that impacted wikis should be involved in the decision itself,

In the meanwhile, is it okay to enable subpages for those two namespaces for this wiki?
