To reproduce:
- Enable New Wikitext mode.
- Edit the English Wikipedia article Rock n Roll Consciousness. (Tested on revision 963699187. Direct editing link.)
- Scroll to the {{Album ratings}} template, to the line with the rev1score parameter.
- Copy the URL https://www.allmusic.com/album/rock-n-roll-consciousness-mw0003032379 to the clipboard.
- Delete the <ref> tag.
- Put the caret after the {{Rating|3.5|5}} template.
- Click the Cite button.
- Click on the Automatic tab in the Cite inspector.
- Paste the URL to the input box.
- Click the Generate button.
- The reference preview is displayed.
- Click Insert.
Observed: Nothing is inserted.
Expected: A reference template is supposed to be inserted.
For a bit of background, I want to use the New Wikitext mode because it has the Cite tool with automatic generation of citation templates from URLs. I would use the actual Visual Editor, but I cannot because this template appears in a template, parameters can only be edited in source, and the Cite button doesn't work there.
I'm not sure whether the bug is in VE, Cite, or Citoid, so tagging all.
