Problem: Earlier this morning, I was able to make a few edits on English Wikipedia using the New Wikitext Editor, a subset of the VisualEditor extension. Now, I am not able to edit using the New Wikitext Editor in any namespace. I've double-checked any recent user script installations, have disabled Reference Previews if/when the Navigation Popups gadget was/is installed, etc.
Steps to reproduce:
- Open Vivaldi or, presumably, Chromium-based web browser
- Verify that VisualEditor and/or New Wikitext Editor is enabled in the Special:Preferences page, Gadgets tab, whilst also ensuring that any conflicting scripts have been uninstalled (if using Reference Previews)
- Select edit on any article page, but, specifically, Joseph A. Day
- The original source editor is displayed, with no ability to switch between visual and source editing
What should happen
As noted in bullet point number 4 above, if steps 1-3 are all true, then VisualEditor or New Wikitext Editor should be used by default and one should be able to toggle between the editing interfaces
