cas-icinga intermittant failures
Closed, InvalidPublic

Description

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Log into cas-icinga, clicking 'remember me' on the idp login page
  2. Go to the active alerts page (https://cas-icinga.wikimedia.org/alerts)
  3. Leave the page open for a few hours

Expected result:
Page continues to self-refresh successfully

Actual result:
After some hours it will fail like this:

This is using firefox 77.0.1 on linux mint 19.3 (ubuntu 18.04 equivalent). A refresh always fixes it. I'm not experiencing any issues with connectivity or any other website. Using plain icinga seems to avoid this issue.

Correction: this doesn't seem to be cas-specific. I've had both cas-icinga and plain icinga pages open in both firefox and chrome for a few hours, and so far i've seen the following failures:

  • plain icinga in firefox: Unable to connect (same as first screenshot above)
  • cas-icinga in firefox: Unable to connect (same as second screen shot above)
  • plain icinga in chrome: Internal Server Error ;)

Here's the network request/response details from the first firefox failure: P11709
It very unhelpfully contains nothing explicit about the failure, maybe it's a simple timeout?

In any case i'm going to close this as Invalid. Sorry for the noise :)
