Hi @schoenbaechler

In the "My list", there's another onboarding card when you turning off the "sync reading list" option in "Settings", and here's how it will be implemented:

Not sure if that looks good to you.

Since there is no other button in this card to add the "Not now" button, should it have the same behavior as the login card?

@cooltey, looks good to me.

Follow up question for all cards within reading lists → is it possible to implement an optional parameter for cards that lets users swipe to dismiss them? (swipe left or right) I’m not proposing this for all cards, as it doesn’t make sense for Explore feed cards or the Suggested edits onboarding card. This needs to be decided from case to case and allows us to design cards with a single call to action (more effective ), while still allowing users to intuitively dismiss it.

Thanks for confirming it, @schoenbaechler. Unfortunately, the card cannot be "swiped off" because it is not an item of the list view, but we can still add a "negative button" into that card. Would that be helpful?

Sounds good @cooltey — I updated the designs on Zeplin to reflect what’s been discussed:

Hi @schoenbaechler

Show card with illustration on first time access to this screen (when logged out)
Show card without illustration on second time access (when logged out), to avoid taking up too much space while still encouraging account creation.

Would it be possible to change the behavior to the current session of using the app? (if the "My lists" screen is created, then count it as one session)

Show card with illustration on first session of accessing to this screen (when logged out)
Show card without illustration on second session of accessing (when logged out), to avoid taking up too much space while still encouraging account creation.

The reason why I asked for this because every time when an article is downloaded, the reading list page (My list) will get refreshed automatically, and it will affect the count of visiting the page.

It would be much simpler (and makes more sense to me) if the card keeps in the current session, otherwise, the card will be dismissed really quickly (and also in an unexpected way).

@cooltey, that makes sense!

Another thing that just crossed my mind since we’ve added a “NOT NOW” option 10 days ago is, that we should show the card every time users access “My lists” until “NOT NOW” is tapped. The slightly adapted (permanent) behavior works like this:

  • Show card with illustration on first session
  • Show card without illustration after the first (and all future) sessions

Btw. @cooltey — I’m not seeing the illustration in the latest Alpha in the first session (`2.7.50323-alpha-2020-07-10) 👇
