The WMSE-Development-Support-2020 project has been going on for a few years. It would be good to get some stats about if what we developed actually gets used.
The scope of this task is to investigate what technical means there are for tracking usage/adoption of developed features and suggesting a mechanism by which we can record this over time to use as a basis for maintenance decisions.
@Sebastian_Berlin-WMSE @Alicia_Fagerving_WMSE There is no scheduled meeting for this. My thinking was that we could initially, asynchronously, add some notes of what mechanisms you have identified etc.
This directly ties into T274893: Inventory of tools, services and libraries maintained by WMSE. If we are deprecating a tool/service then we need to be able to understand the impact of that decision. Similarly if no one is using a tool (and we have no concrete future plans for it), is it worth maintaining?
