Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

The following URL is incorrectly entered as "Live status: Whitelisted" but is actually dead: http://www.musicomh.com/singles/usher-alicia-keys.htm
As far as I know, I cannot change domains with my current rights.

Event Timeline

Here is another example: http://www.telenoticias7.com/detalle_nacionales.php?id=144988 Although I should have the right to 'dewhitelisturls', there is no dropdown field to change the live status of the URL.

That means the whitelist state is set at the domain level, and the entire domain is whitelisted. That generally requires even higher privileges than admin.

So I have to continue to report such cases here?

Well before I give you the permissions to handle those states, you need to know the implications of dewhitelisting entire domains. First off, doing so means the bot's discretion for individual links is re-enabled for that domain. If it was whitelisted in the past, it could be because the bot cannot properly read sites from the domain. So you have to be careful about that.

As far as understood. And there is no other way to change such a single URL?

And how can you tell whether the bot was unable to read websites from the domain correctly in the past and was therefore whitelisted.

If you look at the URL, and it's whitelisted without a log entry, then the bot added the domain to the whitelist automatically. As for changing individual URLs, there is a change planned to rework how it handles whitelists and blacklists.

Please study the domain management interface and ask me questions before I grant you these permissions.

I have already looked at and understood the instructions and the user interface several times. I have also used the domain change several times to search for the affected URL. I randomly checked various URLs listed in this way and found that they were consistently dead. For me, in these cases, a clear indication of a problem with the domain, such as changing the structure, completely redesigning the site or losing content. Then I get angry about the fact that the bot cannot be updated here in these cases. I always change the affected pages in the German Wikipedia manually without being able to correct the bot as well.

If it helps the case, @Bwbuz is a longtime deadlink expert on dewiki. Would be great to have him as part of the "IABot team".

@Bwbuz has been granted all permissions needed to modify anything URLs or domains.
