Problem

Users come to Article Talk Pages and User Talk pages with different goals. Through usability testing such as T257281 we've learned that on article talk pages contributors are going with the intention of discussing ways to improve the article. Conversely, there isn't one standardized thing that people do on user talk pages. The issue is that many junior contributors come to the user talk page expecting to see some kind of inbox or user message center.

Possible Solutions

  • Treat user talk pages differently than article talk pages - design a different ui and possibly ux
