The Wikispeech player was launched as a gadget on Swedish Wikipedia in 2021. This was a soft launch to gather more hard data on how larger usage affects the tool, identify bugs and get clarity of the costs associated with running the tool. We will offer the gadget to more languages and are hoping to launch it as an MediaWiki extension later.

There is a need to communicate actively with the volunteer community both in advance and during the release. The goals are:

1. Gather support for the tool in advance to ensure that it is prioritized by WMF ops. E.g. continue the work that started in 2016.
2. Create interest in the tool so that people activate it for Beta testing.
3. Capture and respond to the feedback provided from the users.

In preparations meetings should be set up with WMF staff with expertise in this area (such as @User-Johan).

This is an umbrella task and subtasks should be created for different parts of the work.
