This could be a good start for the person who works on this ticket.

It appears we are missing the featured article from more than just one language. So far I am not seeing featured articles for the following languages:

German (only when German is the primary device language)
French
Italian
Portuguese
Russian
Gan Chinese
Hindi

It appears to be working on the following:

English
Japanese
Vietnamese

This is 100% due to wikifeeds. I have wikifeeds code w/ Italian On This Day working locally, but am struggling a bit with article of the day.

I'm thinking we should have a full audit of what we want to add in, and we can do it all in one go.

Thanks @MattCleinman I'm going to backlog/tracking this for now, as this seems to be both not a bug (its an improvement) and not technically in our team's scope. Wikifeeds has a number of problems, and I'd like to see it work better for both us and the communities, but we have too much iOS specific work to focus on.

Checking in using the supported list of languages for today (e.g. https://zh.wikipedia.org/api/rest_v1/feed/featured/2021/06/03), these are the listed as supported language subdomains that are failing to return any featured article content:

bg, bs, cs, fa, la, no, sco, ur, vi
